Scholarship Winner!

We are so excited to announce our very first Noblesville High School scholarship winner, Katelyn P!  Katelyn is heading to Purdue to study pre-pharmacy.  Katelyn wrote this wonderful essay about her tie to pediatric cancer:

When I was younger my best friend was my cousin Jessica. She and I recorded
silly movies together, played games in her basement, and walked around her
neighborhood telling jokes and stories to one another. Around the time Jessica
was seven years old, she was diagnosed with Leukemia and told that her chances
of surviving cancer were slim. At the time, I knew little about childhood cancer,
but I soon learned how devastating and challenging it can be for a family. Jessica
was constantly undergoing treatment and seeing the sleepless nights and stress
my Aunt Terri was under broke my heart as a kid. My family was a direct support
system for Jessica and the rest of her family. They even let my
cousin Kyle spend a few weeks with my family when Jessica was undergoing
serious treatments. However, this time frame taught me the value of hope and
faith. While Jessica’s chances of survival were slim at the time, she and my family
continued to pray and love in the face of adversity. Because of Jessica’s strength
and faith, she survived leukemia and is now nineteen years old. Truly, watching
Jessica and her family persevere in trying times due to childhood cancer still
motivates me to keep going in challenging times in my life and education.
