He tried to give blood but couldn’t. Not because he is scared of needles (trust me, he’s used to them). But because he is a blood cancer survivor. The rules say he can’t donate.
Here’s the irony: He never actually needed blood during his treatment. But his cousin, Adam, did.
They battled blood cancers at the same time. While Joey skated by without transfusions, his cousin needed them constantly. Aunt Alison lost count of how many bags of blood it took to keep Adam safe.
We know it was strangers’ blood that helped save Adam’s life. 🩸
We are hosting this blood drive, wanting to "refill the bank." We want to give back what our family borrowed. We want to support not only blood cancer patients, but anyone who needs blood.
So, Joey is looking for some teammates.
Since Adam and he can’t donate, they need you to take their spots. They need you to be the one who helps the next family that’s fighting this battle.
Their blood is retired. Yours is needed. Please join us on January 31- sign up between 8am and 4pm at the link above.
